Kubota invests in portfolio company Kilter
Kilter, a Norwegian ag-tech company developing autonomous precision weeding solutions, today announced the successful raise of €6.5m in new financing, anchored by a strategic investment from Kubota Corporation, a global leader in agricultural machinery. Kubota becomes the second strategic investor to back Kilter, alongside Nufarm, which also followed on in the round. The financing was further supported by existing shareholders including Pymwymic (following on from its late 2024 investment), SBG Invest, and others, underlining continued conviction in Kilter’s progress and next phase of growth.
Kilter is building the next generation of precision weeding. Its flagship system, the AX-1, is an autonomous field robot equipped with proprietary single-droplet nozzle technology that can reduce herbicide use by up to 95%. Combining robotics, artificial intelligence and precision spraying, Kilter enables farmers to treat individual weeds with pinpoint accuracy, lowering chemical inputs, reducing labour pressure and maintaining crop health and yields.
Kubota’s investment provides strong industrial validation as Kilter advances toward its next growth phase and prepares for a future Series B. Beyond capital, the partnership brings global distribution reach, deep machinery expertise and market insight across more than 120 countries.
“We believe that Kilter offers an outstanding solution to help farmers manage weeds more efficiently and sustainably. We are excited to work alongside Kilter and our co-investors to support the company’s next phase of growth.’’ Miquel Albareda, Manager Corporate Development, Kubota Corporation
“This investment confirms that Kilter’s technology and business model are ready for the next phase. With Kubota as a strategic investor, we are accelerating execution, scaling globally, and laying a strong foundation for our Series B.” Anders Brevik, Managing Director at Kilter
With both Kubota and Nufarm as shareholders, Kilter sits at the intersection of agricultural machinery, crop protection and precision application. Together, these partnerships strengthen Kilter’s ability to reduce chemical use, improve targeting and support farmers facing rising input costs, labour shortages and tighter regulation. The combined expertise across machinery, agronomy and crop protection gives Kilter a strong industrial ecosystem as it scales globally. While Kubota’s entry is a key milestone, most of the capital in this round came from existing shareholders, reinforcing confidence in Kilter’s execution and commercial traction.
“Over the last 18 months, Kilter has strengthened its technology and team, proving its unique droplet technology delivers real value for farmers at scale in the field. This investment validates that traction and strengthens Kilter’s strategy alongside two industry-shaping players – Kubota and Nufarm.” Rogier Pieterse, Managing Partner of Pymwymic
Headquartered in Norway, Kilter has been in commercial operation since 2021 and today serves farmers across Northern Europe, with ongoing expansion into additional international markets. With a growing installed base and increasing demand for precision agriculture solutions, the company is preparing for its next phase of global scale-up.
